The Artist
The Art of Calligram
Always passionate about drawing and fascinated by calligraphy, Cecilia di Lucia has dedicated herself to the technique of calligram. Handwriting always reveals something about people, and it changes over time making itself unrepeatable.
In her artistic project “Wordlines” the lyrics of songs, poems, or works, draw the faces of their own authors. The artist tries to make the words and images blend, exchanging roles.
Cecilia pays homage to the icons of music, art and history, drawing their features with the words of their most beautiful texts. Thus, a portrait becomes a story, and vice versa.
She also creates personalized portraits, to combine the power of words with the expressiveness of images.
